Fuller cheeks are a sign of youth, but the ravages of time tend to break down the natural fullness of the cheeks, leaving behind a flat or hollow look and causing sagging of the jowls.

While many dermal fillers can be used to correct this, one of the latest is Juvederm Voluma, from the makers of Botox. This injectable offers fantastic results for patients and is longer-lasting than any other filler of its kind. Results are almost immediate, compared to other cheek enhancement fillers like Sculptra, providing instant gratification to the patient with some long-term improvements that last up to 2 years. So why not try arguably the best Juvederm Voluma Los Angeles has to offer?

Voluma Uses

The Voluma Dermal Filler is specially formulated for cheek enhancement procedures that provide two aesthetic results:

  • Cheek augmentation to restore facial fullness
  • Non-surgical lower facelift, as the enhancement of the cheeks gently lifts the hanging skin known as the jowl area

The cheeks can display significant signs of aging since they tend to decrease in size over time, resulting in a sagging look to your face. Juvederm Voluma XC is an FDA-approved gel that will add considerable volume to this area as it plumps and smooths, creating a heartier, more youthful appearance.

Juvederm Voluma Ingredients

Voluma is composed mostly of hyaluronic acid that is accompanied by Lidocaine, a topical anesthetic used to reduce sensation at the injection site. Because hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body, allergy testing is rarely required. However, if you have had a reaction to lidocaine or similar topical or injected anesthetics, please discuss with your provider before undergoing treatment.

Juvederm Voluma for Cheeks: Results

Juvederm Voluma XC provides a high level of patient satisfaction, and its overall "lifting" properties are nothing short of remarkable in many cases. According to RealSelf.com, a website that offers detailed Voluma before and after photos and overall Voluma reviews, patients express a 90% "worth it" rating. Ample photos of successful treatments are also available across the web and in our own dermal filler before and after gallery. The official Juvederm website offers a "Treatment Visualizer" application that affords patients the opportunity to upload their own photos to see a preview of their post-treatment results.

Frequently Asked Juvederm Voluma Questions

How Does it Work?

Juvederm Voluma for Cheeks mimics the plumping and toning characteristics of your own facial tissue by restoring lost hyaluronic acid that has broken down over time.

How is Voluma XC Administered?

During a Juvederm Voluma cheek enhancement treatment, your certified injection specialist will perform a series of injections to the cheek area. The amount of injections required depends on your individual treatment plan, which will be agreed upon by you and your provider.

Who is a Good Candidate for this Treatment?

Voluma is recommended for healthy individuals over the age of 18, who are looking for a minimally-invasive procedure that will require little-to-no upkeep in-between treatments. Voluma is FDA approved, making it safe for cosmetic use in most individuals. If you are in relatively good health and want to have the cheeks you’ve never had and always wanted, or you need to replenish lost facial volume, then you are a good candidate for a Voluma cheeks treatment.

Who Should Not Receive this Treatment?

It is not recommended for patients to use Voluma while pregnant or nursing. This dermal filler is also not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age or for those who are currently taking blood-thinning medications. If a current patient on such medication desires to have the procedure, they must consult with their primary care physician to make the proper adjustment to a current prescription in order to minimize or eliminate any reactions. Those who are allergic to any of the ingredients of Voluma shouldn't use this cosmetic injection in order to avoid a serious reaction. It's wise to study the Voluma package insert to explore the specific risks and detailed side effects. Discuss all potential reactions with your certified injection specialists during a personalized consultation. She will be able to answer your questions and address your concerns after collecting a thorough medical history from you.

Are Juvederm Voluma injections Painful?

Although injections are never painless by any means, when used in conjunction with lidocaine, patients report only minimal discomfort. Some pain and discomfort can be reported after the treatment due to swelling or bruising. Talk with our providers about how you can minimize or avoid this swelling and bruising before your treatment by avoiding blood thinners like aspirin or alcohol, and how to manage discomfort after treatment with over-the-counter acetaminophen.

Can anesthesia be used?

Lidocaine is used to numb the area during the injection process. Additional anesthesia is both unnecessary and may increase the risk of additional side effects.

Voluma Risks and Side Effects

Our Beverly Hills Juvederm Voluma has a relatively low risk of side effects, such as lumps, redness, and overall inflammation of certain facial areas. The side effects are considered moderate and irritating more than anything else. Rare, more serious side effects include visual disturbances, headaches, lethargy, dry mouth, and neck discomfort. Thankfully, Voluma side effects are usually temporary and should subside as the injection site heals, usually in less than a month. As with all medical treatments utilizing needles, this injectable carries a low risk of infection.

What are the potential complications?

Aside from the previously mentioned side effects, such as bruising, swelling, pain, and redness at the injection locations, this treatment is at a low risk for serious complications. Of course, allergic reactions to any of the ingredients are always something to look out for, and any allergen should be thoroughly discussed with a certified healthcare professional well in advance of your procedure to ensure that a Voluma aesthetic treatment is safe for you.

How long does the procedure take to administer?

The procedure involves the simple administration of shots in specific regions of the face, so you can expect an expedient treatment and recovery time. Allow for at least 30 minutes for your appointment after a personalized consultation.

How long do our Juvederm Voluma in Beverly Hills treatments last?

Juvederm Voluma is the longest lasting dermal filler on the market today, lasting up to two years in some patients. When treated again after 2 years, patients needed less product to achieve their results. No other dermal filler boasts longer lasting results to date.

Is there any downtime?

A look at Voluma aftercare instructions shows that there’s virtually no downtime for most patients. Simply taking it easy while resuming most of your normal everyday activities, shunning any alcoholic beverages, and staying out of excessive sunlight or extreme heat is sufficient for aftercare. The swelling and redness usually resolve themselves rapidly after the procedure as well.

What is the cost of a Voluma treatment? Is it affordable?

The cost of Juvederm Voluma in Los Angeles is highly dependent upon an individual recommendation from a licensed injector, the experience of the injection specialist and the location of the aesthetic clinic. Some patients will require more syringes than others, so prospective patients will have a better idea of the total Voluma price once they schedule a consultation with a certified injector. Once a treatment is mapped out, it will be much easier to calculate the cost. Also note that while Voluma can be more expensive than other dermal fillers, its effects last much longer (up to two years), which lowers the overall cost while exponentially increasing its value. Keep in mind that financial options do exist that provide more financially-feasible payment methods. Our practice also accepts all major credit cards.

Where can I find before and after photos?

Across the web, Voluma results can be located on a host of websites, such as RealSelf.com and at the official Juvederm website. Patients express a relatively high level of satisfaction with the results and the procedure overall. There are literally thousands of solid testimonials that vouch for the effectiveness of this injectable. Thankfully, users are also very honest and provide useful information and advice on their personal treatments, so it's a smart idea to take a look before having your procedure.

Where can I get more information?

More detailed information can be best accessed by a certified injection specialist. She will be able to offer a personalized plan that recognizes your unique medical history and treatment preferences.

New protocols for office visits View Update

New protocols for office visits

May 12th, 2020

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic we have instituted many changes to your normal office visit. These changes have been introduced to protect everyone’s health and safety during your visit. All of our staff have been tested for COVID-19 and are negative. They are being monitored daily as well and will be practicing safety guidelines.

  1. If you are sick, do not come to the office. Call our front desk and we will reschedule your appointment promptly once you’re healthy again.
  2. Please wear a mask to your appointment.
  3. Do not bring someone else with you to your appointment. They will not be able to enter the office and wait for you. The only exceptions are for those who require medical assistance or translation assistance. Additionally, please do not bring any pets to the office with you.
  4. The day before your appointment, as in the past, you will be called to confirm your appointment. During that call you will be asked if you have any symptoms like fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste. You will also be asked if you have been recently exposed to COVID-19 or have been traveling on a commercial airplane within the last 2 weeks.
  5. When you arrive for your appointment, please call the office from your car. A staff member will either tell you to come up to the office at that time or will ask you to wait in your car until they text you to come up. Before entering the front door of the office, you will be met by a staff member who will take your temperature with a no-touch forehead thermometer to be sure you don’t have a fever. They will again ask you if you have any symptoms of COVID-19. You will be given a mask if you don’t have one, as well as hand sanitizer since you touched the doorknob to enter the office. We will stagger appointments so that on the day of your treatment, you will not interact with any other patients.
  6. You will be taken directly to an exam room which has been cleaned and disinfected just prior to your arrival. There are also air filtration machines installed in each exam room which sterilize the air.
  7. Our medical assistants, who will be wearing N95 masks and protective eye shields, will take your history and prepare you for your visit. You will be asked to sign a new COVID-19 consent form in addition to any of the usual consent forms you may be used to.
  8. After your treatment, you will check out while in the exam room and any products you purchase will be brought to you. If you give us your credit card information the day before your appointment, we can handle the checkout without physically touching your card.
  9. Please try to make your follow up appointments during your office visit. With new scheduling changes and staggered appointments, last minute appointments may be difficult to schedule.
