The Lasky Aesthetics and Laser Center in Beverly Hills is committed to providing the very best in non-invasive cosmetic treatments to our patients. From medical-grade facials to non-surgical facelifts, our professional staff at the Lasky Aesthetics and Laser Center is waiting to help you achieve your aesthetic desires. We have many options to choose from depending on your specific goals. One of the choices we offer is the injectable dermal filler treatment Radiesse.

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse gel is used worldwide to diminish the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and facial folds. It is the thickest filler available, so it is often used as a non-invasive alternative to implant surgery to provide augmentation to the chin, lips, or nose. Those with mouth or jaw defects or vocal chord insufficiency can also benefit from Radiesse.

Radiesse wrinkle filler is FDA approved to plump up aging, sagging skin by replacing volume that’s lost over time. Radiesse filler is injected under the skin with a small needle, producing instant visible results. Over time, the treatment stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen, which provides the skin’s firmness and structure but breaks down as we age. Its effects are immediate, natural looking, and long-lasting.

Some of the issues this popular injectable dermal filler is used to correct include:

  • Smile lines
  • Marionette lines
  • Cheek enhancement
  • Chin reshaping
  • Frown lines
  • Lip augmentation
  • Hand rejuvenation

Radiesse Reviews

Most patients report a high level of satisfaction with Radiesse dermal filler, and report that they experienced very little pain during their treatment, minimal downtime after, and that they were very pleased with the outcome.

>Radiesse results and reviews are available for your perusal on the Internet. You can read several on the official Radiesse website or on our own testimonials page.

Radiesse Ingredients

Radiesse injectable fillers are comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres that are suspended in an aqueous gel carrier. The calcium in the microspheres is the same type of calcium that keeps our bones strong.

This means the solution is biocompatible and will harmlessly be absorbed by your body over time. The product is not animal based, so allergic reactions are very rare. No allergy testing is needed prior to treatment.

Pre-Procedure Consultation

Before your treatment, you’ll undergo a thorough assessment during a pre-procedure consultation. After discussing your medical history, lifestyle, and desired outcome, a personalized plan of care perfectly tailored to you and your cosmetic goals is drawn up.

Your rejuvenation program will be as unique as you are. By carefully weighing all the issues pertinent to your particular situation, we can devise a plan that ensures the best possible results with the least downtime. During this consultation, you’ll also be given instructions to follow immediately before your treatment, and detailed Radiesse aftercare guidance as well.

Side Effects

It’s important to be fully aware of any possible Radiesse side effects before undergoing this popular cosmetic procedure. Prior to treatment, all patients are informed of Radiesse adverse effects that may occur. These include:

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Redness at the injection site
  • Itching at the injection site
  • Headache
  • Nausea

These side effects usually all resolve within a few hours or a few days. If you have any questions or concerns at any time before, during, or after your procedure, please do not hesitate to call us.

The Procedure

The Radiesse dermal filler is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure performed in our warm and welcoming facilities at the Lasky Aesthetics and Laser Center. The first step is your certified injection specialist carefully determining and marking the area(s) of injection on your skin. Next, a topical anesthetic for pain relief is applied, if indicated. Radiesse with lidocaine is now available, which often makes a topical anesthetic unneeded.

One of our highly-skilled certified injection specialists will then inject a precise amount of the filler under the skin’s dermal layer. This may cause mild discomfort, though many patients report no sensation at all from the Radiesse injection. The procedure is usually finished in under an hour. Most patients can carry out their normal daily activities as soon as it’s over.

Radiesse Questions

How does Radiesse work?

Collagen is the substance the body produces that keeps your skin firm and smooth. Age and sun exposure depletes the supply of collagen, resulting in wrinkles and lost volume. Most dermal fillers can temporarily substitute for lost collagen. However, the Radiesse dermal filler can actually stimulate the growth of new collagen.

How is it administered?

Once one of our certified injection specialists has marked the point(s) of injection on your skin, a topical anesthetic will be administered if needed. Otherwise, Radiesse with lidocaine will be injected under the dermal layer of the skin to restore lost facial volume and smooth out lines and wrinkles.

Who is a good candidate for treatment?

In general, those in good health over the age of 18 who wish to look younger, or alter their appearance without committing to plastic surgery, are good candidates for this safe, non-invasive procedure. Anyone who wants to improve their appearance without the risk of allergic reaction is a good candidate for this dermal filler.

Is getting Radiesse painful?

The definition of pain varies from person to person, but most patients that have experienced Radiesse report mild discomfort to none at all. There may be minimal swelling at the injection site that can last a couple of days post-procedure. As with any treatment involving injections, redness, itching, and irritation are not uncommon. All of these symptoms can be alleviated with an icepack.

Can anesthesia be used?

A topical anesthetic can be applied to the area before the procedure if needed. Radiesse with lidocaine is also available for added convenience. Sometimes a combination of the two is warranted depending on the patient’s pain threshold. Feel free to ask your certified injection specialist what sort of anesthetic will be available to you during your procedure. Your comfort and peace of mind are important to us, and to the success of your treatment.

When will I see results?

You will see firmer, younger looking skin right after administration of your aesthetic treatment. Talk about immediate gratification! The filler also works gradually over time to stimulate the production of collagen, smoothing wrinkles and adding volume, giving your face a more youthful, refreshed appearance.

Is there any downtime?

One of the biggest advantages of this cosmetic treatment is that there’s very little downtime and no recovery period. This is a huge advantage when a lot of our patients lead such busy lives. Many people simply don’t have to time to take a week off to recuperate from an aesthetic procedure.

How much does Radiesse cost?

Depending on the amount of correction required and the area(s) being addressed, one treatment can cost around several hundred to several thousand dollars. But a single treatment can last from 1-3 years, which is much longer than many other dermal fillers. That’s a lot of bang for your buck.

Who shouldn't get this treatment?

Anyone who is pregnant or nursing shouldn’t use this filler. Patients who have recently had another facial treatment, such as a chemical peel, must wait until they have completely recovered. Those with an active skin infection or a suppressed immune system are not a suitable candidate. If you’re taking blood thinners, such as aspirin or a prescription medication, check with your physician before undergoing this procedure.

What are the potential complications?

The most common Radiesse adverse effects are itching, swelling, bruising and tenderness at the injection site(s). Some patients also report headaches and nausea, but with most people these symptoms will resolve within a few days of the procedure. In very rare instances, nodules appear that require steroid treatment or surgical intervention, but in the majority of cases there are no major complications.

How long does radiesse last?

Radiesse duration is generally a year. The benefits of this injectable treatment can last even longer depending on other factors, including the area treated, your age, skin condition, and lifestyle.

Where can I find Radiesse before and after photos?

To really get a sense of what our Radiesse wrinkle filler can do, you need to see it with your own eyes. The transformative power of this treatment is best appreciated with before and after photos, such as those found on our website and on the official Radiesse website.

Where can I get more information about Radiesse?

You can also contact us at the Lasky Aesthetics and Laser Center with any questions you may have – we’re always happy to be of service. We hope to hear from you soon!

How long does the procedure take?

From marking the injection site(s) to waving good-bye at the door, the whole process is usually over in under an hour with little-to-no recovery time to slow you down. For the first couple of days, you will be advised to:

  • avoid unnecessary movement or massaging of the treated area
  • not wear make-up
  • stay out of the sun and avoid excessive heat

Also, be sure to tell your healthcare provider you’ve had this treatment, as the microspheres in the filler are detectable on X-rays and CT Scans.
