Don’t let your hands say too much…

One of the most tell-tale signs of aging is in the appearance of the hands. Prominent knuckles and tendons combined with large ropey veins can add 10 years to one’s appearance. To add to the problem, the hands are almost impossible to hide. Fortunately there is a simple solution to this problem – Radiesse® for hands. Lasky Aesthetics, can restore youthful fullness to your hands in one treatment with no pain or downtime.

The hands age much faster than the face

As we age, the hands lose the fatty layer of tissue located just under the skin. This plumpness is what gives the hands a youthful supple appearance. As the skin thins and the fatty layer decreases, veins, tendons and knuckles become visually more pronounced.

There is no need to feel self conscious about your hands. Modern long lasting dermal fillers can restore what nature has taken away during just one visit. The standard of care for hand fillers is Radiesse, the only dermal filler that has been approved by the FDA for use in the hands as well as the face.

How is Radiesse different from other dermal fillers?

There are several other dermal fillers on the market that have ingredients that are intended to treat varying degrees of volume loss, wrinkles and folds in the face. These fillers contain gels that are absorbed into the body faster than Radiesse, and consequently don’t last as long.

Radiesse does not require allergy testing before use, as the calcium based active ingredient naturally occurs in the bones and teeth. Also, Radiesse is approved by the FDA to be used with lidocaine, a powerful local anesthetic which is used to reduce injection pain.

What can I expect during a Radiesse treatment?

Radiesse treatments are virtually painless. Since the FDA has approved the use of lidocaine mixed with Radiesse, the only sensation is a small pinprick when the fine gauge needle is introduced. Patients report no sensation at all as the filler is being injected.

Once your hands have been evaluated, Radiesse is injected just under the skin and then molded to fill in the hollows. Each hand will take approximately 15 minutes after which you can immediately see the results of the treatment. Your hands may be a little swollen following the treatment but this usually is resolved by the next day.

To prolong the life of your Radiesse treatments it is recommended that you come in for periodic touch ups as needed. As in all things, a little maintenance goes a long way to preserving the original benefit. Find out how we can help you regain a more youthful lifted look for your hands.

How does Radiesse work?

Radiesse has a dual benefit in hand rejuvenation. First, the improvement in the hands is seen immediately. Once the gel is injected, it immediately creates volume and lift, which corrects the prominent appearance of veins, tendons and large knuckles. The gel continues to act as a filler for three months while your body is replacing the gel with collagen.

Second, Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapitite (CaHA) a naturally occurring mineral form of calcium, which stimulates collagen production. Once the gel has been absorbed, the microspheres of CaHA cause new collagen tissue to form, which replaces the lifting properties of the gel. Radiesse has much more staying power than other fillers, lasting on average over a year, and in some cases up to two years.
