In general, laser resurfacing is a method of reducing wrinkles, scars and blemishes. By using a laser to remove the outermost surface of the skin, laser resurfacing offers the skin a chance to regrow into a glowing, unblemished surface. Laser resurfacing also stimulates collagen growth underneath the skin. With increased collagen, wrinkles are filled in, reducing or eliminating their appearance.
With previous methods of laser resurfacing, the surface of the skin would take a beating. There were complications that could persist over time. Despite this, the basic process did get good results—it was just a matter of producing a better device that’s not so hard on the skin.
That’s now been done with the Fractional CO2 laser.
The Fractional CO2 laser offers all the advantages of laser skin resurfacing with drastically reduced disadvantages. Because one purpose of laser skin resurfacing is regrowth of the outer layers of skin, patients should still expect some redness and a recovery period while the skin heals. However, this is dramatically reduced from previous procedures, and patients are much more comfortable following the procedure. Additionally, because the Fractional CO2 laser is not as rough on the skin, the recovery time is significantly shorter with faster results.

It was definitely time to get some help with my face. It wasn’t even that awful, but I had enough attention on my appearance that it was distracting. When I came to see Dianne, she was as helpful as could be. There was no pressure, no sales pitch, just information. I learned so much about fractional lasers that I felt I could practically deliver the procedure myself! In the end, I’m glad I took the plunge. My skin looks great and feels even better. Lasky is definitely the place to go if you’re looking for fractional laser resurfacing in Los Angeles.
As with every procedure we deliver, your Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing begins with a consultation. During this time, your provider will find out everything she needs to know to understand your reason for treatment and what you’re looking to accomplish. By taking this step, your practitioner can share your goals and make them her own.
During this initial consultation, you are encouraged to ask any questions you like so as to become fully educated about your fractional laser resurfacing procedure. We find the best results are delivered to motivated, proactive patients, and that’s something we look to achieve during your consultation.
Once your appointment for treatment is made, you and your practitioner will begin a series of preparatory skin treatments. These usually begin six weeks prior to treatment. During this period, you will work closely with your practitioner to ensure that everything is going to plan, and that your skin is properly prepared to receive the laser treatment.
Right before your procedure in Beverly Hills, your practitioner will use local anesthetic on the area to be treated. Laser skin resurfacing can be slightly painful, so the local anesthetic is to help you remain comfortable throughout the procedure. If you have any preference regarding this aspect of treatment, it will be thoroughly reviewed prior to the procedure, and your preference will be taken into account.
Next, your face will be thoroughly cleansed, and you will be given protective eyewear.
During the laser skin resurfacing procedure, your practitioner applies the Fractional CO2 laser to the applicable treatment area. The ablative laser works to vaporize surface blemishes and damaged skin cells. It concurrently heats the underlying collagen layer, causing it to expand to bring more volume and life to your skin. It does all this while causing minimal damage to healthy skin cells.
Fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
The recovery period after Fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing is almost as important as the treatment itself. After all, the healing process is why the treatment exists in the first place. For this reason, it is important that you follow all guidelines set forth by your practitioner. They are intended to not only make your recovery as comfortable as possible, but also to ensure that the best possible results are gotten from your procedure.
With Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing, the recovery period is typically no longer than 2 weeks. During that period, your skin will look red, and there will be flakes coming off.
This is part of the natural healing process, and it ultimately means your skin will have a much-improved appearance at the end.
