Receding hair, bald spots, and thinning hair are some of the most unpleasant signs aging. There are many methods and treatments for hair restoration, but hair restoration with PRP offers a natural solution to thinning hair that is both effective and minimally invasive.

Lasky Aesthetics & Laser Center in Beverly Hills understands your frustration and is ready to assist you to restore your hair, and we often perform hair restoration with PRP (platelet rich plasma). PRP is a naturally-occurring substance created from your own blood.

Candidates for Hair Restoration with PRP

PRP is extremely effective in restoring natural hair growth in men and women. As the PRP is extracted from your own blood, the treatment is all-natural and requires minimal, if any, recovery time. The treatment is non-surgical; it is suitable for almost any person looking to improve thinning hair, by triggering the body’s natural regenerative process.

Most people begin to experience hair loss in their late thirties and forties, but for some thinning or balding occurs in the twenties. Hair restoration with PRP is a safe and reliable method to restore healthy hair follicles for people at any age.

Hair Restoration Procedure with PRP

Your hair restoration procedure with PRP will begin by drawing a small sample of your blood, as would occur in a standard blood test. The sample is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the PRP from other blood products. PRP is a highly concentrated solution containing growth factors – the naturally occurring substances that stimulate cell growth, health, and proliferation.

The PRP will then be injected into your scalp to restore healthy hair growth. The PRP stimulates the stem cells in the inactive hair follicles to trigger new hair growth. Once the injections are completed, your scalp will be cleaned. After the procedure, you are free to resume your daily activities.

Recovery time after hair restoration with prp

One of the most significant advantages of hair restoration with PRP is the fast treatment and lack of any needed recovery time. Some patients like to take the remainder of the day to rest, but it would simply be for your comfort, and is not vital to the healing process. There are no incisions to care for and anesthesia is not necessary, so you will not be left feeling foggy or disoriented. You will need to avoid extended periods of sun exposure, but generally you can resume your daily routine immediately after treatment.

FAQ

Who is a candidate for the procedure?

Though PRP has been proven effective on almost anyone over the age of eighteen, there are a few exceptions. Those who smoke or drink heavily may not be the ideal candidate. Additionally, certain rare medical conditions may exclude you from treatment. If you are interested in the procedure, schedule an initial consultation at our Beverly Hills clinic to find out what procedure or combination of hair restoration procedures will produce a result – for you.

Is the use of prp safe?

Yes, very much so. PRP is derived from your own blood cells, eliminating any chance that your body would reject the treatment or lead to an infection as your body recognizes its own cells. Lasky Aesthetics & Laser Center procedures are performed in a safe, sterile environment where we utilize state-of-the-art equipment to eliminate the risk of contamination. PRP is clinically proven to be safe and effective, and has been used for decades in the medical field.

Will i need additional treatments?

Some patients may return for subsequent treatments approximately on a yearly basis to maintain growth in the newly-stimulated hair follicles. Our experienced staff will create a customized treatment plan to address your individual condition.

Can hair restoration with prp be paired with other treatments?

Yes. You may decide to pair your hair restoration procedure with other non-surgical treatments such as Minoxidil (hair growth medication). You may be advised to have a combination of hair restoration treatments to prolong the health and growth of thicker, more abundant hair.

Are there any special care instructions after my procedure?

Immediately following your procedure, you may experience some tenderness and should avoid extended sun exposure. If you are going to be out-of-doors, wear sunscreen or a hat to keep your scalp protected from the sun’s rays. After the brief initial healing time, you can wash and care for your hair and scalp as usual.

If you are pairing your procedure with another treatment, apply those as directed by our hair restoration professionals so you achieve and maintain optimal results.

What results can i expect after hair restoration with prp?

Over the next few months following a PRP hair restoration procedure, you will see new hair growth in the treated area. As hair growth starts below the surface in the follicle, it may take several weeks for you to notice new hair growth, but it new hair growth and thicker existing hairs become visible over the following weeks and months. Results can vary, especially if you are combining your treatment with other topical creams or medications.

What exactly is prp?

By placing your blood sample in a centrifuge, the spinning action separates the platelet-rich plasma from other blood products. The growth factors themselves are made up of a few different types of growth-stimulating substances, including:

  • Platelet-derived growth factor
  • Fibroblast growth factor
  • Vascular endothelial growth factor
  • Transforming growth factor
  • Epithelial growth factor

Each type of growth factor contributes to a different aspect of cell regeneration, growth, and healing.

Will i need time off work to recover?

Most patients do not require time off work to recover from the PRP hair restoration procedure. The treatment is typically completed within one to two hours and patients return to work or other activities right away. Some patients may elect to take off the remainder of the day following treatment.

New protocols for office visits View Update

New protocols for office visits

May 12th, 2020

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic we have instituted many changes to your normal office visit. These changes have been introduced to protect everyone’s health and safety during your visit. All of our staff have been tested for COVID-19 and are negative. They are being monitored daily as well and will be practicing safety guidelines.

  1. If you are sick, do not come to the office. Call our front desk and we will reschedule your appointment promptly once you’re healthy again.
  2. Please wear a mask to your appointment.
  3. Do not bring someone else with you to your appointment. They will not be able to enter the office and wait for you. The only exceptions are for those who require medical assistance or translation assistance. Additionally, please do not bring any pets to the office with you.
  4. The day before your appointment, as in the past, you will be called to confirm your appointment. During that call you will be asked if you have any symptoms like fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste. You will also be asked if you have been recently exposed to COVID-19 or have been traveling on a commercial airplane within the last 2 weeks.
  5. When you arrive for your appointment, please call the office from your car. A staff member will either tell you to come up to the office at that time or will ask you to wait in your car until they text you to come up. Before entering the front door of the office, you will be met by a staff member who will take your temperature with a no-touch forehead thermometer to be sure you don’t have a fever. They will again ask you if you have any symptoms of COVID-19. You will be given a mask if you don’t have one, as well as hand sanitizer since you touched the doorknob to enter the office. We will stagger appointments so that on the day of your treatment, you will not interact with any other patients.
  6. You will be taken directly to an exam room which has been cleaned and disinfected just prior to your arrival. There are also air filtration machines installed in each exam room which sterilize the air.
  7. Our medical assistants, who will be wearing N95 masks and protective eye shields, will take your history and prepare you for your visit. You will be asked to sign a new COVID-19 consent form in addition to any of the usual consent forms you may be used to.
  8. After your treatment, you will check out while in the exam room and any products you purchase will be brought to you. If you give us your credit card information the day before your appointment, we can handle the checkout without physically touching your card.
  9. Please try to make your follow up appointments during your office visit. With new scheduling changes and staggered appointments, last minute appointments may be difficult to schedule.
