Varicose veins are dilated blue veins, usually in the lower legs, that have become enlarged, twisted, and are often visible on the surface of the skin. Spider veins are smaller, red in color, and generally sit closer to the skin than varicose veins. Varicose veins can be caused by several or a combination of factors, which include prolonged standing or sitting, pregnancy, or genetics. Some varicose veins respond well to nonsurgical treatment, whereas some varicosities require surgical intervention. At the Lasky Aesthetics & Laser center our consultation includes obtaining your medical history as well as visual inspection of veins of concern. If you are suffering from varicose or spider veins, please call us today to schedule an appointment for varicose or spider vein treatment in Beverly Hills.
When blood flows normally through the veins back to your heart, it flows in pulses. After each pulse, valves along the veins close so that the blood doesn't flow backwards. When these valves become weak or fail, blood flows back away from the heart, causing it to pool in the veins. When this occurs, the veins swell and become varicose, meaning they enlarge and lengthen.
Varicose and spider veins usually produce aesthetic concerns, but they can also cause pain when left untreated. Symptoms of varicose and spider veins include:

At the Lasky Aesthetics & Laser Center in Beverly Hills, we offer an effective varicose and spider vein treatment using different methods which include injection of a sclerosing agent (Sclerotherapy) and/or Vbeam laser for smaller red veins. Spider and varicose vein treatments are performed in our Beverly Hills office. This is one of the most time-honored procedures, having been around since the 1920s. It works by injecting a sclerosing, or hardening solution into the spider or varicose veins. This solution creates shrinkage in the target veins, causing them to fade and disappear over the next several weeks.
Sclerotherapy is considered the gold standard in varicose vein and spider vein treatment. It is our treatment of choice for varicose vein treatment at our Beverly Hills Center due to its long-term safety and reliability history.
It takes less than an hour to perform, with patients able to resume their daily activities immediately following treatment.
Patients with larger varicose veins may need subsequent treatments to fully eliminate the blue ropey veins that make wearing shorts and summer clothing impossible. Give your legs at least six weeks healing time before you decide you need another treatment. Sclerotherapy has an overall success rate of 50 to 80% in eliminating treated veins.
Depending on your spider and varicose vein treatment, support stockings may need to be worn for several weeks. Patients may have some bruising at the treatment sites, but this will fade over the first few weeks. If any dressings were used, keep them in place as instructed. This will usually not be for more than a few days.
There may be some slight cramping for a day or two, but this is generally mild and doesn’t require prescription pain relief. You will be given post treatment information, including the recommended type of over-the-counter pain medication, should the need arise. As some pain medication increases bleeding, be sure to follow the recommendations given to you to avoid complications.
It is very helpful to walk frequently throughout the day, and to avoid prolonged sitting or standing in one place. Patients are encouraged to take short walks every hour or two when at work or relaxing at home.
Within the first month following your spider or varicose vein treatment, you will be able to wear shorts or skirts with confidence even though the full healing process has not been completed.
By then, the veins have faded enough to be unnoticeable by the casual observer. You will be able to resume your exercise routine in most cases. If you are in doubt, be sure to ask when your particular form of exercise can be safely resumed.
Even with no downtime, no recovery period, and very little discomfort, sclerotherapy offers better results than competitive procedures. At the Lasky Aesthetics & Laser Center, we take pride in our treatment, and always strive to perform the best varicose and spider vein treatment Beverly Hills and Los Angeles have available.
