Does Ultherapy Work? Addressing Non-Surgical Facelift Skepticism

Everyone wants to look younger, but not everyone wants to go under the knife. This is the trend we’re seeing here in our Beverly Hills medical spa as more and more patients come to us in search of non-surgical alternatives to facelift surgery. However, many approach non-surgical facial anti-aging with a healthy dose of skepticism, particularly with our patient-favorite treatment Ultherapy, which is often referred to as the FDA approved non-surgical facelift alternative. But does Ultherapy work, or is it just a bunch of hype?

Does Ultherapy Work?

The Proof is in the Proverbial Pudding: Ultherapy Results and FDA Clearance

Ultherapy is FDA approved for non-surgical skin tightening of the face, neck and decolletage. The device uses ultrasound technology to gently lift and tighten skin, making the patient look more youthful in just one treatment. The claim may seem far fetched to some, but clinical trials, testimonials and before and after photos show real and noticeable results for patients seeking a non-surgical facelift alternative.

A Tool is Only as Good as the Person Who Wields It

Does Ultherapy work? Yes, but only if it’s performed by a skilled and licensed provider. The mistake that some patients make when looking for an aesthetics provider is that they forget that, just because it’s a cosmetic and non-surgical procedure, it’s still a medical procedure and requires skill, training, experience and attention to detail. It’s just as important to select the right provider as it is to research the treatment technology itself. A review for Ultherapy is also a review of the provider, so consider negative reviews with this knowledge.

When selecting an Ultherapy provider, don’t choose based on proximity to your home or cost. This is your face and your health. Select an aesthetic provider like you would select a surgeon for a life saving operation. Choose only the best. Our Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant have the highest training, skill and education in not only using Ultherapy for non-surgical facelift treatments, but on facial anti-aging with other treatments like Botox and dermal fillers, as well as experience working with dermatologists and plastic surgeons.

Is Ultherapy Right For Me?

No treatment is right for every patient, and we will be the first to admit that sometimes patients will have less than stellar results from a treatment because they weren’t a good candidate to receive treatment. Some patients will obtain better results with a facelift, Botox or fillers depending on their needs. Again, this is why it’s important to see only a skilled and licensed medical aesthetic provider who can determine what your needs are and the right treatment based on what they discover during your consultation, not based on what the latest technology is.

The ideal Ultherapy candidate is someone who already has some degree of laxity in their skin that causes it to feel and look less firm. Generally, if you're an individual in your 30s or older with mild to moderate laxity, you're a good candidate for this procedure.

New protocols for office visits View Update

New protocols for office visits

May 12th, 2020

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic we have instituted many changes to your normal office visit. These changes have been introduced to protect everyone’s health and safety during your visit. All of our staff have been tested for COVID-19 and are negative. They are being monitored daily as well and will be practicing safety guidelines.

  1. If you are sick, do not come to the office. Call our front desk and we will reschedule your appointment promptly once you’re healthy again.
  2. Please wear a mask to your appointment.
  3. Do not bring someone else with you to your appointment. They will not be able to enter the office and wait for you. The only exceptions are for those who require medical assistance or translation assistance. Additionally, please do not bring any pets to the office with you.
  4. The day before your appointment, as in the past, you will be called to confirm your appointment. During that call you will be asked if you have any symptoms like fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste. You will also be asked if you have been recently exposed to COVID-19 or have been traveling on a commercial airplane within the last 2 weeks.
  5. When you arrive for your appointment, please call the office from your car. A staff member will either tell you to come up to the office at that time or will ask you to wait in your car until they text you to come up. Before entering the front door of the office, you will be met by a staff member who will take your temperature with a no-touch forehead thermometer to be sure you don’t have a fever. They will again ask you if you have any symptoms of COVID-19. You will be given a mask if you don’t have one, as well as hand sanitizer since you touched the doorknob to enter the office. We will stagger appointments so that on the day of your treatment, you will not interact with any other patients.
  6. You will be taken directly to an exam room which has been cleaned and disinfected just prior to your arrival. There are also air filtration machines installed in each exam room which sterilize the air.
  7. Our medical assistants, who will be wearing N95 masks and protective eye shields, will take your history and prepare you for your visit. You will be asked to sign a new COVID-19 consent form in addition to any of the usual consent forms you may be used to.
  8. After your treatment, you will check out while in the exam room and any products you purchase will be brought to you. If you give us your credit card information the day before your appointment, we can handle the checkout without physically touching your card.
  9. Please try to make your follow up appointments during your office visit. With new scheduling changes and staggered appointments, last minute appointments may be difficult to schedule.
