Everyone wants to have natural, healthy, beautiful-looking lips. Unfortunately, age and genetics can keep us from having the plump, youthful pout we desire. Thankfully, with the help of FDA-approved lip fillers, we can bypass nature and bring back a youthful appearance. Two dermal filler specifically designed for lip enhancement include Juvederm Volbella and Restylane Silk. Which one is right for you? It's a battle of Volbella vs Restylane Silk.
Both Juvederm Volbella and Restylane Silk contain the same active ingredient: hyaluronic acid. The human body naturally produces hyaluronic acid, which keeps your skin moist, healthier, and more youthful. Unfortunately, production of hyaluronic acid slows down as you get older.
Both lip fillers are relatively new to the market but are both part of tried and true collections of dermal fillers from Allergan and Galderma, who manufacture other Juvederm and Restylane fillers. Keep reading for a closer look at both sides in the case of Volbella vs Restylane Silk.
Juvederm Volbella, produced by the makers of Botox, is quite popular in Europe and Canada. It was not until 2016, however, that the FDA approved the use of Volbella in the United States. Volbella offers you fuller, richer lips, with smooth results.
Restylane Silk is an FDA-approved filler specially formulated to rejuvenate your lips and mouth. You can use it in conjunction with other fillers or receive it as a separate treatment. Like Volbella, Restylane Silk is thinner and smoother than other hyaluronic acid fillers. This allows your provider to create softer, more natural-looking results.
As mentioned earlier, both Juvederm Volbella and Restylane Silk use hyaluronic acid as the principle ingredient. Both gels also contain 0.3 percent lidocaine to ensure patient comfort, so anesthesia is not required. Volbella and Silk were both designed specifically for lip filling and to smooth out lines around the mouth, often called smoker’s lines.
The difference between Volbella vs Restylane Silk is longevity. Volbella lasts for up to 18 months, while Restylane Silk lasts for approximately 6 months. While it may seem that Volbella is the obvious choice, as it lasts longer, there are subtle differences between each filler that could make Restylane Silk the better option for you. Be sure to discuss your options with our providers to better understand which filler will give you the best results.
Although Volbella and Restylane Silk are your best options for fuller lips, other facial fillers are available. Both Juvederm Ultra and Restylane-L have proven effective in the lips prior to Volbella and Silk coming onto the market. Again, it depends on your needs and how we can best achieve the desired results.
