Unsightly varicose veins and spider veins often develop in both men and women due to age, hormones, occupational hazards, or pregnancy. While these conditions are not usually considered a medical emergency, they can be embarrassing and leave you feeling self-conscious about revealing your skin. Sclerotherapy at Lasky Aesthetics in Beverly Hills is a modern, minimally invasive treatment to remove unsightly veins, restore your self-confidence, and free your inner beachgoer once again.

Varicose veins and spider veins

Varicose veins and spider veins are two related but distinct conditions:

  • Varicose veins are the thick, bulging, twisting veins that may appear on your thighs and legs. Varicose veins pose a minor medical risk of clotting and otherwise have a very unattractive appearance.
  • Spider veins are the thin, branching veins that look like spiderwebs throughout your skin. They usually have a blue, purple, or red appearance and often appear on the face, hands, thighs, legs, and feet. Spider veins are not known to pose any health risks.

Both conditions indicate damaged blood vessels that your body is unable to repair, and the various treatments for both conditions all involve the destruction of the veins.

Sclerotherapy: Effective vein treatment in Beverly Hills

Sclerotherapy is one of the most popular and effective treatments for both varicose and spider veins. The procedure involves a light injection of a saline solution into the affected veins, causing them to collapse and eventually turn into invisible scar tissue. Once the affected veins have been destroyed, they cannot come back and pose no further cosmetic or health problems. Sclerotherapy originated in the 1930s and is the most popular and effective treatment for this unpleasant condition.

What to expect with sclerotherapy

When you arrive at Lasky Aesthetics for sclerotherapy, you will be resting comfortably on a treatment bed with your legs elevated. The solution will then be applied to your veins through several rapid injections, at which point the treated area will be compressed and massaged to help the solution move through your veins.

Walking after the procedure is ideal, as it helps keep the blood moving and helps prevent the formation of blood clots. You can expect to wear compression garments for about two weeks after undergoing sclerotherapy, and you will need to avoid any strenuous exercise during that time. You can expect results within three to six weeks, though you may need multiple treatments to handle more severe cases of spider veins or varicose veins.

The veins treated with sclerotherapy will not return, though new veins may appear over time. The best way to maintain your results is through a healthy, active lifestyle, and if new veins appear with time, they can be treated with sclerotherapy.

Benefits of Sclerotherapy

  • Removes spider veins and varicose veins for good
  • Easy, fast, and effective treatment
  • Little or no downtime after the procedure
  • Results in as little as three to six weeks
  • Reduces or entirely removes the discomfort associated with varicose veins, including aching, cramping, tiredness, numbing, throbbing, burning, and tingle.

Who is a candidate?

The best candidates for sclerotherapy are men and women between the ages of 30 and 60 and who desire a varicose and spider vein free life. Some pre-existing conditions may preclude you from being eligible for this procedure, including:

  • Being pregnant
  • Being bedridden and unable to walk easily
  • A history of blood clotting will require individual analysis
  • Sclerotherapy is not recommended if the veins could be used in a future bypass surgery

What is the average cost for Sclerotherapy

You can expect to pay in the range of $250 to $500 for sclerotherapy based on the severity of your condition and the number of veins treated. Most patients find this quick, easy treatment more than worth the cost.

New protocols for office visits View Update

New protocols for office visits

May 12th, 2020

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic we have instituted many changes to your normal office visit. These changes have been introduced to protect everyone’s health and safety during your visit. All of our staff have been tested for COVID-19 and are negative. They are being monitored daily as well and will be practicing safety guidelines.

  1. If you are sick, do not come to the office. Call our front desk and we will reschedule your appointment promptly once you’re healthy again.
  2. Please wear a mask to your appointment.
  3. Do not bring someone else with you to your appointment. They will not be able to enter the office and wait for you. The only exceptions are for those who require medical assistance or translation assistance. Additionally, please do not bring any pets to the office with you.
  4. The day before your appointment, as in the past, you will be called to confirm your appointment. During that call you will be asked if you have any symptoms like fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste. You will also be asked if you have been recently exposed to COVID-19 or have been traveling on a commercial airplane within the last 2 weeks.
  5. When you arrive for your appointment, please call the office from your car. A staff member will either tell you to come up to the office at that time or will ask you to wait in your car until they text you to come up. Before entering the front door of the office, you will be met by a staff member who will take your temperature with a no-touch forehead thermometer to be sure you don’t have a fever. They will again ask you if you have any symptoms of COVID-19. You will be given a mask if you don’t have one, as well as hand sanitizer since you touched the doorknob to enter the office. We will stagger appointments so that on the day of your treatment, you will not interact with any other patients.
  6. You will be taken directly to an exam room which has been cleaned and disinfected just prior to your arrival. There are also air filtration machines installed in each exam room which sterilize the air.
  7. Our medical assistants, who will be wearing N95 masks and protective eye shields, will take your history and prepare you for your visit. You will be asked to sign a new COVID-19 consent form in addition to any of the usual consent forms you may be used to.
  8. After your treatment, you will check out while in the exam room and any products you purchase will be brought to you. If you give us your credit card information the day before your appointment, we can handle the checkout without physically touching your card.
  9. Please try to make your follow up appointments during your office visit. With new scheduling changes and staggered appointments, last minute appointments may be difficult to schedule.
